Video: “The power of grace”

Feel good story of the day:

Wilson, a young, white, Southern man, attacked Lewis, a freedom rider for Martin Luther King, in the “white” waiting room of a South Carolina bus station.

The men had not seen each other again until Tuesday when, with “Good Morning America’s” help, Wilson approached Lewis again — this time offering an apology and a chance to relieve a burden he’d carried for more than four decades.

“I’m so sorry about what happened back then,” Wilson said breathlessly.

“It’s OK. I forgive you,” Lewis responded before a long-awaited hug.

  1. That’s pretty impressive. I’m glad to know that happened. Two things seemed to spark his transformation — a friend asking him if he knows where he’s going when he dies and the election of Barack Obama. But which one ignited the transformation? Or are both equally responsible? Would he have had this epiphany if one of these things had not happened? I recognize the power of the Holy Spirit to transform, and it appears that may be what happened when his friend asked him about judgement day (obviously this is mere speculation, only God can know for sure). But I also see the significance of having a black President. I didn’t vote for him myself, and it had nothing to do with his race, it was his policies I disagree with, but there is some satisfaction I get from his election knowing that tolerance and, moreover, love for others has progressed in this country’s tolerance-strained history. And what is even responsible for that?
